Earl Moran was born in 1893 and as Elvgren, after his studies at Chicago Art Institute he joined Brown & Bigelow publisher to work on pin ups. He drew with pastel and also with oil painting on the canvas. He worked on illustrations for big magazines and also on cinema billboards. His best known model is nobody else than Marilyn Monroe…
Earl Moran can be confused with Elvgren at first sight but Moran's paintings are more varied, more dynamic and some of his works make Moran one of the best painters of Pin ups.
Working for the same publisher as Elvgren, the Earl Moran's works can be found especially as simple page tear-off calendars, and on carts Mutoscope.
Big 12-pages calendars are rare and much sought-after, they are nearly always sold by page.
