All Moore

September 1951 calendar

The magazine Esquire suggested Al Moore as a substitute of Varga in 1948. He published 3 calendars (1949, 1950 and 1951). They met a phenomenal success, commercially even higher then the Varga's success. He uses the gouache for his pin ups which are perfectly in phase with the period, his pin ups are natural, more accessible.
The shadow of his predecessor didn't allow to Al Moore, despite the quality of his work, to pass in posterity. He will be replaced by Chiriaka.
