Knute Munson is native Norwegian, after a period in Swede, his family
emigrated to Michigan, United States. He studied at Fine Arts Academy
of Chicago, than at Grand Central School of Art in New York. With his
friend Earl Moran, he worked as illustrator in Chicago. Thanks to his
friend he was hired by a publisher of calendars Brown & Bigelow. As
Mac Pherson he illustrated in pastels several Artist's Sketch Pads for
this publisher, until his return to Chicago in 1949 to become a free lance
photographer and illustrator. He worked on numerous advertisements for
big brands.
