Founded by H M Leland in 1918, Lincoln in liquidation in 1921 is bought by FORD. The brand will be positioned in the upper class. The Lincolns were sold 10 times the price of a Ford of the epoch ! !
In 1936, Lincoln proposes a model lower in its class, the Zéphyr. Its line is very aerodynamic and it doesn't shock the clients, contrary to the Airflow of Chrysler. It is equipped by a powerful engine : a V12 with 110 HP. The sales of Lincoln soar.
The line of models 1942/1948 is, fashionably of this epoch, much heavier and overloaded by chrome.
From 1956, the models become very imposing and overloaded by the chrome. In 1961 Lincoln releases a model which will make the competitors look old : simple and liberated from all the unnecessary at the same time, the Continental imposes itself. It will inspire all the car designers of the planet.
